About a year ago I read a blog post on Lainey Gossip that was about celebrities getting these youth inducing facials in Vancouver & how we could now get them in Toronto from a company called W Skin Care. (They are a clinic, not a spa) I am very susceptible to advertizing so I emailed them right away to talk to them about pricing & availability. I received a response very quickly saying I could book a few weeks in advance & received the price list for what they had to offer. I wanted the Microdermabrasion + Cold Laser Treatment (90 min) which is $250 + HST & the next day a second dose of Cold Laser Treatment (60 min) $175 + HST. It is not cheap by any means, so I waited about a year before I decided to finally book my appointment with W.
My journey to a youthful face (lol) started last weekend when I embarked on my road trip to Toronto. I was hopeful that these treatments would help me with the crow’s feet that were starting to appear around my eyes. I'm only 26!! When I arrived I was greeted by a very polite receptionist who offered me a bottle of water, I waited about 5 minutes before my aesthetician came to get me & invite me to the clinic room. It was a sterile place, nothing fancy or spa like but it looked clean & inviting. The woman asked me several questions about my lifestyle & the products I currently use as well as my current skin care routine. I was sad to hear that due to my constant exfoliating that she wouldn't be performing the Microdermabrasion on me, it would be too harsh on my skin. She would however be able to do my two treatments of Cold Laser! She also explained that our collagen levels start to deplete after the age of 18 & what the lasers do is reintroduce the collagen into your skin (reawaken your skin cells). The treatment is not painful or intrusive, the easiest way I can explain it is it is like having an ultrasound on your face. The device looks like a small metal flashlight that exudes light on your skin through gel that is placed on your face. Feels like a nice warm face massage. After an hour of 3 different lasers on my face, she put sunscreen on me & I was free to roam Toronto.
The next morning was the same, felt amazing & an hour later I was done. She gave me samples of moisturizer & a pink pimple drying liquid & I was on my way... a few hundred dollars poorer. But my face feels amazing, the wrinkles have diminished, but the esthetician told me it can take up to 14 days before I see the full results. So far I am happy with what the results look like. I feel like my skin is glowing & tighter & that my crow’s feet are less deep & less noticeable.
If you live close to Toronto or Vancouver & have a few hundred dollars to spare I would recommend trying this treatment! Why not, you have nothing to lose (except your wrinkles) & if it’s good enough for a celebrity, why wouldn't it be good enough for you?!
Please see my vlog below for a more visual experience of my Toronto trip. Because it is a clinic, I was unfortunately unable to video the treatment itself.
Toronto is such a great place, full of art, shopping & life. I've been several times before! Check out the Fashion District & the Eaton Centre for some good shopping & restaurants & don't forget to check out the CN Tower while you are there too! The 360 Restaurant is an experience you don't want to miss!
